For its worth, i used for skype to call internationally with great rate, and pretty good sound quality. Hmm.works very well. had been reading all the review for this phone, and when it came, it didn't not gave me any trouble setting it up, however, i used it purly for the internet, no land line attached. What is surprised me was, i was still able to have my computer hooked up to the same account meantime the phone connect to the account without interruption.
So I'm not able to use this phone even to make land line calls. The phone isn't able to communicate with the base. - The redial feature is lousy. I bought this phone in an attempt to reduce my long distance phone bill. I know the problem wasn't caused by my ISP because I could make Skype calls directly from my PC. We were able to workaround the problems by unplugging and then plugging the base from the power source and resetting the base.
However, now the phone is in a state that the workaround isn't working. However, I can barely make long distance calls. For some reason it isn't able to connect to Skype. - The sound quality is horrible even with land line calls. Here are all the problems I have had with this phone.- It doesn't always remember your privacy settings. I have had this phone for two years and since the day I got it, it has given me grief.
- It routinely loses the ability to make Skype calls. The sound quality on my $20 AT&T land line phone is better than this phone.
Beyond this difficulty the phone works well. When using SKYPE the phone is often incapable of producing touch-tone (DTMF) after the caller has answered. This is a great land-line phone. As a Skype phone its not bad but certainly not perfect. This makes keying in an account number or selecting an option impossible.
Yes, $100. How is that even possible.
No way. I knew I didn't spend that much two years ago, but was amazed to see in my order history that I got it for $100.
I was just curious about the cost of adding an additional handset and saw price. Still, I can't fathom spending more than $100 for it.
I bought this skype phone two years ago for $100. On Sept 29, 2009, it is now listed at $399.
I have only used the phone sporadically, but it seems to function well enough (sound quality, stable connections.).
The call quality is always low. When it works that is. Negativities: This phone is always losing it's connection, and has to be reset. It's not to uncommon for you to drop a call using this phone. Positives: The phone is easy to set up, and pretty much usable out of the box. This goes for land-line, or skype out. I like how the batteries are just rechargeable AAAs, and are easily obtained from your local box store.
I got this phone to call the next town over, because it's considered long distance. My iPod Touch 2G has better call quality then this phone does. Lastly, this phone is very susceptible to area noise. It picks up all background sound, and can make some conversations hard to understand. I can not do business on the phone that will require me to use the number pad during the call. It always seems when I don't really need to make a call I have no issues, but when I have to make an important call it's gone down. I mean when you're asked to press 1. I give this product only two stars out of five, because when it has done it's job.
You can press 1 all day long, and it will not work. The in state long distance charges are crazy here, so I turned to skype out for a cheaper option. I've saved a lot of money calling in state.
If I don't have time to fiddle with it I end up using my home land-line, and eating the crazy in state charges. I don't recommend this product for purchase. It's just not done it very well.
I've been using the product for about a year, but it's in need of constant attention. The phone does have an attractive look and feel to it. Rarely, does the touch tone work.
